Nashville update

Note that last week’s church attack in a suburb of Nashville was consistent with our previous news items and warnings about suspicious foreign men snooping around churches in that area, apparently for illegitimate reasons.

Las Vegas — random thoughts and reports

After the massacre last weekend, it was only hours before Hillary Clinton, other leftists politicians, and some of the late-night TV hosts blamed the NRA. The lamestream media outlets (and plenty of left-wing politicians and nutjobs) also did their usual song and dance full of obfuscation, distortions, half-truths and outright lies. Lots of lies. CBS even invented something they called “automatic rounds.” Coincidentally, news reporter Bob Scheiffer also reported this week that one in five reporters now live in New York, Washington, or Los Angeles, shutting many Americans off from reputable local news outlets. Well, duh.

The political left is literally advocating killing the right, while at the same time saying that the Vegas victims were mostly right and therefore undeserving of sympathy. Take precautions.

Half-wit former US Rep. Gabby Giffords and her space cadet husband Mark Kelly used the tragedy as a platform to call for “universal” background checks for gun purchases, which we already know that this particular massacrist had already passed. YOU are the ones they want to suppress, not the killers.

We note that the Mandalay Bay facility where the killer was, is a “gun-free” zone, including security guards, and LEOs must call ahead to the security office. I bet the SWAT team didn’t do that, and I’m pretty sure the venue’s policy is of no concern to LEOs. The music festival itself is also a gun free zone. We also have a report of a lockdown of rooms’ electronic door locks at the hotel, in at least one case preventing parents from retrieving their baby. Elevators were also shut down, delaying evacuation of a security guard who had been shot. A security guard, probably this one, was first on the scene, ahead of the cops.

“Never call an unarmed man ‘security.'” — Dave Grossman

But we also note that the Mississippi ENHANCED (only) permit is reportedly recognized in Nevada, and that “No Firearm” signs in Nevada have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specifically mentioned in state law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry (apparently this venue is not one of those). But if you are in a place not specifically mentioned in the law that is posted and they ask you to leave, you must leave. If you refuse to leave then you are breaking the trespassing law and can be charged. Even if the property is not posted and you are asked to leave you must leave. But at least you get to leave alive.

The first 911 call reporting a shooting happened two minutes and 27 seconds after it was reported by officers on the scene. NUMEROUS erroneous reports of additional shooters and shootings around the area and at other casinos came in, some more than an hour after this shooting ceased. This is apparently a common occurrence during mass killing events.

Meanwhile this week at entrances to the Wynn resort in Las Vegas, guards scanned visitors with metal-detector wands and inspected their bags. David Codrea wonders if it’s a coincidence that oblivious sheep await their directed fate in a paddock. It’s not.

Good advice: “Age of Terrorism!

FWIW, those “bump stocks” the Vegas killer used (originally designed to assist disabled shooters) were approved as legal by the ultra-left BATF during the ultra-left Obama Administration, because they do not convert a semiautomatic rifle into an automatic, no matter what the 5:30 talking-head idiots say. The NRA, SAF and CCRKBA have all said they’re open to discussions about regulating these devices, because apparently they think that the stocks work differently now than they always have, with the NRA saying they “allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles,” which technically they don’t. But we all know if you throw a hot dog to a pack of wolves, they will go away, right?
The Firearms Policy Coalition and Gun Owners of American are a bit more logical:

Besides, there is no evidence that unfettered civilian possession of machine guns is not protected by the Second Amendment.

AR versions of the stock had been selling for about $100-150, but now are going for $1500 if you can find one.

  • Slidefire has stopped taking orders altogether.
  • Cheaper Than Dirt appears to have taken the entire product offline.
  • Bump Fire Systems’ entire website has been down, up, and down again, and we hear that the firm has stopped taking orders due to extremely high demands.
  • Midway USA has removed the product entirely.
  • Gunbroker.com has banned the sale of bump-style stocks and similar devices.
  • Other retailers are simply sold out.

Meanwhile, folks who can really shoot keep right on shooting.

They gonna ban fingers now?

“After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it.” — William Burroughs, 1992

Litigation

We have a report that Washington, D.C. will not fight the US Court of Appeals ruling that struck down the District’s strict “good reason” law that makes it difficult for law-abiding citizens to get concealed carry permits. In short, they are correctly scared that they’re wrong.

The law, which requires that people show “good reason” (self defense is not included) to carry a concealed weapon before they can get a permit, was ruled unconstitutional by a divided three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The District then asked the Circuit for a full en banc hearing, but was unanimously refused.

In summary, the Constitution is still supposed to apply in Washington, D.C.

MS politics

Missy McGee won the special nonpartisan election by a 2-to-1 margin in MS House District 102 (Hattiesburg) on Tuesday and will be sworn in Oct. 13. McGee replaces Toby Barker (R), who was previously elected as mayor of Hattiesburg.

McGee now proclaims herself as a “moderate Republican” (i.e., RINO). Barker was also a moderate Republican.

McGee’s election secured the GOP supermajority in the House (IF she votes with Republicans), meaning no Democratic votes are necessary to pass budget and tax bills that require a three-fifths vote.

MS Attorney General opines that muzzle loading weapons are “firearms”

Enemies

Pentagon finally dumps hate group SPLC.

Idiots

Former FBI Assistant Director (the #3 FBI guy) Chris Swecker, an attorney and “security consultant” whose entire career was only about white collar crime, was interviewed on CNBC on Monday about the Las Vegas massacre when he stated that citizens have no need to own suppressors, that fully automatic weapons are illegal and that AR-15s are way too easy to convert to full auto.

We have reports of multiple unarmed law enforcement officers begging guns from citizens during the Vegas massacre. Because, stupid.

The Only Ones

An unidentified off-duty Phoenix police officer left a gun at Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ last Friday, where it was reportedly found by a student in a restroom at the Hamilton library.

Products

SMT Tactical has cheek rests and muzzle brakes for Kel-Tec KSG shotguns.

American Tactical has a new external hammer side by side 12 gauge shotgun called the Road Agent. It cocks both of the hammers when the gun breaks open for loading. At the same time, the decocking lever is automatically set to “safe.” After closing the gun, simply take the gun off safe to fire, or use the decocking lever to drop both hammers safely without pulling the triggers. Double triggers. 18.5″ barrels, 3″ chambers, 5.3 lbs. Looks cheaply made.

Wilson Combat has some new AR hunting rifles.

Academy Sports on Lakeland Drive in Flowood, MS, has some shotgun choke tubes on sale pretty cheap.

Quote of the Week

“At the end of the day…women don’t want some sentimental “estro-man.” They want a dude with bloody knuckles, a hairy face, a knife in his belt, and big arms that will throw them on a shoulder and carry them upstairs… one who will punch the teeth out of someone that disrespects them.

So don’t worry kids. Nature finds a way. All those lumbersexuals and whathaveyous that give rise to all those articles? I would not worry too much. In a survival situation, they will be food. And we will not feel one bit sorry for them as we baste their carcasses with jalapeno sauces and rum.”
