Legislation, Florida, Mississippi Deer

Legislation

The left is getting nervous about national CCW reciprocity.  CBS’ 60 Minutes did a hit piece on the legislation Sunday.  Local gun shop Van’s Sporting Goods was shown.

You’ve of course heard the news about the shooting massacre of at least 17 people and the wounding of about 20 more at a Parkland (Fort Lauderdale), FL, high school this week by a 19-year-old previously expelled from that same school for disciplinary (violence), threats, and safety reasons, who was known to have mental health issues and an obsession with guns, about whom the faculty had previously been warned by the administration, and who was “flagged as a threat” to the school after he was expelled.  He had also posted a comment on a YouTube video channel last fall that he was going to be a “professional school shooter,” which was previously investigated by the FBI, who “couldn’t identify the source” even though the comment was posted under the killer’s real name.

We understand the actual shootings lasted from 3 to 6 minutes, depending on which report you believe.  What would your response be to a 4-minute killing spree in your presence when the cops won’t be there for, say, 7 minutes?

The left was calling for more gun bans and lying about gun laws before the bodies were cold.  Some literally called for the murders of Republican politicians continuously until they pass a gun ban bill.

We also note that Florida has essentially the same laws about guns in schools as the folks whining about Mississippi’s laws want us to have. I guess the Mississippi liberals want our school kids to be just as vulnerable.

Florida schools are gun free zones, even for folks with CCW permits. So apparently no good guys where the killer was had guns. Included in the dead was an unarmed school security officer.

But most schools have a teacher in every class — a teacher who they claim is a responsible adult in whose care you can entrust your kids. It appears that is a false claim in many cases.

End of lesson.

Hospital Threat Management

The Only Ones

VT State police Trooper Christopher Brown and an unidentified officer from the nearby Richmond Police Department fired 12 shots at a suicidal man, killing him to keep him from killing himself.

An unidentified police officer in Tasmania, Australia, was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and failing to take all precautions to ensure the safe keeping of a firearm.

Enemies

It turns out that Chelsea Handler, an anti-gun bigot who is apparently also some sort of public figure, has killed two innocent nonthreatening people herself, for which she says she is “grateful.”

MS: Don’t feed or eat the deer

Due to a confirmed case of chronic wasting disease in a Mississippi white-tailed deer, supplemental feeding has been banned in the following counties: Claiborne, Hinds, Issaquena, Sharkey, Warren, and Yazoo. It remains a bad idea everywhere else. Alabama has now banned the importation of deer carcasses from Mississippi, with some pieces/parts exceptions.

Army

The US Army’s new XM1158 Advanced Armor Piercing (ADVAP) 7.62 NATO round, designed for use in Designated Marksman rifles to defeat advanced ceramic armors at combat ranges, is listed at $13 per round in the Army’s Ammunition Budget Justification for Fiscal Year 2019.

The Army will drop its hand grenade competency requirement for graduation from Basic Combat Training (BTC) because getting recruits to pass it is taking “too much time” and they’re just not strong enough, according to Major General Malcolm Frost. The new BCT also eliminates land navigation course qualification as a graduation requirement.

You know what I would say here….

Training

Steyr Arms has a new Training Academy at the company’s headquarters in Bessemer, AL.

Remington bankruptcy details

Remington said on Monday it had reached a deal with its creditors to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to try to deal with its billion dollar debt. In the bankruptcy reorganization, Cerberus will lose its ownership, and the Remington’s creditors will swap their debt for equity. The silver lining according to industry insiders is that the arrangement will take Cerberus Capital Management, which is not a pro-gun company, out of the gun industry.

Quotes of the Week

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” — Matthew 10:34

“We believe individual ‘rights’ are conferred upon us all, by none other than our Creator. Our Nation’s Founders rebelled against the European system which decrees there are no ‘rights,’ only ‘privileges,’ and that privileges attach to one’s status within society. It is a ‘caste system,’ where one’s status can never change and that certain privileges are enjoyed only by the ruling elite (who are never questioned nor held accountable) and selected supporters. And unlike rights, privileges can be arbitrarily granted and withheld, at the casual whim of ‘the anointed.’

Our Second Amendment, wisely included in our Constitution by our Founders, understandably frightens and simultaneously confounds these modern-day royalists, who would return America to the European caste system.

They know all too well, as we do, what people with guns will do to people without guns! They thus want us to be forever without guns, but they soft-sell the idea to the gullible by insisting they’re ‘doing it for our own good,’ masquerading as ‘benevolent despots.'” — John Farnam
