A long-time employee at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC, was shot and killed this week in the third floor bathroom of a campus building, sending the gun-free campus into a lockdown as officials failed to find the suspect, who was later captured sleeping on the beach in FL.
Neither the school’s gun free zone policies nor its security officers were able to protect or save the victim. The killer was able to enter the campus with a shotgun, kill his former boss, and exit the campus with no fear of facing armed opposition from law-abiding citizens.
Laws do allow licensed concealed carriers to have a concealed weapon locked in his or her vehicle in the parking lots of community college campuses in NC, but the buildings and grounds on campus are “gun free zones.”
For your safety.
