An experienced firearms instructor in Vermont was found this week in critical condition with gunshot injuries in the torso and jaw, and a woman who was scheduled to be his student that afternoon has been arrested and charged with first-degree attempted homicide. More charges may be pending.
Early theories speculated that the “student” shot the instructor in an apparent attempt to rob him of his guns.
The suspect lives in a community therapeutic residence, a state-regulated home that provides short-term treatment to people with problems such as alcoholism, drug abuse or mental illness. She was apparently previously unknown to the instructor.
Semper vigilans.
