A new study from John Lott, the nation’s premier expert on the issue, suggests that the states with the most relaxed concealed carry laws have lower rates of murder and violent crime than states that make carrying a handgun tougher, with murder rates in states that do not require a permit to carry a handgun 33% percent lower than in states that severely restrict concealed carry.
According to Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center, state level permit data suggests that each one percentage point increase in the percent of the adult population holding permits is roughly associated with a 25% drop in the murder rate.
25% drop in murder rate. “If it only saves one life….”

Meanwhile, another bogus “study” by a David Hemenway, Ph.D., of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (well-known as a shill group for gun control), and published in The Journal of Preventive Medicine, claims that all the mountains of evidence in previous statistically-validated and peer-reviewed studies indicating the positive anti-crime benefits of gun possession are false and that having a gun doesn’t keep you safer than not having one. This study is apparently not reported anywhere outside the gun-control groups.
Be careful who you believe. It’s your life, not theirs.
