On Monday night, NJ Governor Chris Christie directed the New Jersey Attorney General to file a regulatory change expediting firearm application processing for victims of domestic violence, violent crimes, and others who “have a demonstrable threat against them.” Christie specifically cited the case of Carol Bowne, murdered by her ex-boyfriend in June despite the existence of an active restraining order while she was waiting to obtain a gun permit, as a major motivation for his action.
No. A major motivation for his action is his candidacy for president. He could have fixed this long before Ms Bowne died.
Christie is not known as being very pro-gun, and acts in our favor only under extreme public pressure.
