Lockdowns. Idiocy. Intelligence. Pro-gun argument.

Lockdowns

If you’ve been reading this newsletter series, you know I have repeatedly railed against the use of “lockdowns” as a matter of default policy in active shooter type situations in schools, etc.

Here’s a second opinion.

Dept. of Idiocy

Students at Villanova University in Pennsylvania gathered last Friday afternoon to show their opposition to the school’s decision to include armed police officers as part of campus security.

Because, stupid. I don’t think college can help them.

“The majority of young men involved in these violent crimes are having a sort of crisis in their identities and their sense of being part of this community and being valued and valuing others.” — Ursula Price, Exec. Dir. of Community Relations for the New Orleans Independent Police Monitor

Well, that may very well be true, but it’s not an excuse or justification and won’t keep them from getting dead for doing something stupid and evil towards those of us who aren’t doing anything wrong. In other words, if they don’t value themselves and value me, that may cost them, not me. — JP

Dept. of Intelligence

The Garden Valley School District, a rural district outside of Boise, ID, with just 200 students, voted earlier this year to purchase four rifles and 2,000 rounds of ammunition for faculty/staff to use for self-defense.
