Legislation
As promised, President Donald Trump signed legislation which reversed the Obama executive order to the Social Security Administration (SSA) that would have placed the names of those SS disability beneficiaries with a conservator on the NICS no sale list, thus denying Second Amendment rights without constitutionally-required due process.
It looks like the Nazis are back. The European Union is tightening its already onerous gun control laws, requiring each EU member state to pass more gun bans.
And speaking of the UK….
In London this week, a “lone wolf” terror attack was carried out when a single assailant plowed his vehicle through pedestrian bridge traffic, injuring 40 people and killing 2 or 3 (reports vary) others (including 1 American from Utah) before crashing into a fence outside Parliament. He then exited his vehicle with a large knife in his hand and was confronted by 15-year veteran police officer Keith Palmer.
But London is disarmed, as was Palmer, who was subsequently stabbed to death by the terrorist.
The apparently black Muslim jihadist was reported by UK media to have been described by “witnesses” as “Asian.” He was born in Britain and was already known to intelligence agencies as a possible “extremist.” Police have arrested seven other people around the country in connection with the attack.
A 2010 poll from YouGov found just 4% of English subjects wanted gun control relaxed, a figure dwarfed by the 31% who thought all guns should be completely banned. Well, you asked for it.
End of lesson.
Litigation
The US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit has ruled that a police officer who shot and killed an innocent man (who opened his door to the officer’s knock and did not threaten the officer) in his own home cannot be sued by his victim’s survivors, much less charged with a crime.
Remember what I said about not opening the door?
The governor of Kansas has asked President Trump to pardon two men convicted of federal gun felonies due to former President Obama Administration’s violation of the Second Amendment.
SCOTUS
The NRA-ILA says it will include the Senate vote on Supreme Court confirmation of NRA-endorsed Neil Gorsuch on election scorecards that members use for voter education and that the Second Amendment group uses to determine who to support and fight in elections.

Reporters
FBI Director James Comey told House Intelligence Committee members at a hearing that it is not a crime to lie to a reporter. As an added bonus, it’s not likely they would know the difference.
Doctors
A Freedom of Information Law report indicates that from 2013-2016 doctors in New York state made more than 85,000 secret reports to the NYS Office of Mental Health and the NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services, without their patients’ knowledge or consent.
I don’t think it’s a crime to lie to your doctor, either. Because he may be violating HIPPA restrictions.
About those gun accidents
The latest report from the National Safety Council shows accidental firearm deaths in 2015 were the lowest they have been in any year since 1903, a decrease of 17% from 2014. That’s about three-tenths of 1% of the total accidental deaths, which were up 8%. This, during a period of record gun sales and all-time record high gun ownership.
United States Dumb A****
Apparently the USDA is planting deadly cyanide booby traps without telling neighboring residents about them.
Dept. of Idiocy
A 4-year-old preschooler in Troy, IL, was suspended for 7 days from A Place to Grow Child Care and Learning Center because he brought a “shotgun bullet” to school. Turns out it was an expended .22 LR case — a bit of inert, harmless brass. But if little Hunter continues to have gun-related “issues” he will be expelled. When the mother posted news about the incident on Farcebook, the “school’s” vice-president informed the boy’s mother that he was notifying the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) of the incident. Perhaps the state mental hospital should be informed of the antics of this facility’s faculty and staff.

The Only Ones
Former police officer and certified weapons instructor Clifton Knickmeyer, 59, was killed Sunday afternoon in St. Louis County, MO, after grabbing a semi-automatic handgun from a bed and pointing it at an officer responding to a domestic call.
Normangee, TX, Police Chief Charles Herford was arrested following a domestic dispute and standoff in his home where shots were fired. Herford was taken into custody and booked into the Leon County Jail on charges of deadly conduct and evading in a motor vehicle. Texas Rangers, DPS, Normangee Police, Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Madisonville Police Department were all involved.

Industry
We’re hearing of several rounds of layoffs in the gun industry, supposedly due to post-election downturn. But NICS checks continue at record highs. Companies shrinking include Colt, Remington, and Federal. Plus, there’s the Gander Mountain Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructuring.
We have word that E.R. Shaw, a maker of rifle barrels for more than a hundred years, is now in the AR-15 rifle business. According to one source, that brings the number of AR makers to 387.

Quote of the Week
“One of these days, these people keep robbing people, they’re going to run into a person legally carrying a gun and we won’t need to go to court. They’ll end it.” – Saginaw, Michigan Police Chief Bob Ruth
