After two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies shot in an ambush attack last weekend, Democratic presidential candidate Shotgun Joe Biden used the attack to push his plan to ban so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” magazines across the country. “Weapons of war have no place in our communities. We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. – Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) September 14, 2020.” But the assailant in the attack used a handgun and only fired a few shots at the officer[s], and California has already banned so-called assault weapons and ammunition magazines that can hold more than ten rounds. Biden’s call to ban those firearms wouldn’t have prevented this attack. He knows this. His intent is to ban YOUR guns.
- Kamala Harris on the Second Amendment
- A 2008 brief that she signed (1) argued that a total handgun ban was constitutional, and (2) strongly suggested that the Second Amendment doesn’t secure an individual right.
She wants to ban your guns and defund your police, but not hers.
Knife Rights has issued a statement on the presidential candidates.

“We must disarm these (Portland, OR) officers, and every other police department in America, of weapons of war, and enact a nationwide ban on tear gas, rubber and plastic bullets, and bean bag rounds.” — U.S. Sen. Edward John Markey (D-MA), 9/14/2020.
I think that’s supposed to be “Malarkey.”

NICS delays
We’ve been reporting on the record high gun sales all year. We also hear that the surge in sales is causing the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Checks System (NICS) to give a higher number of delays and, in many cases, allowing the sale to be completed because time for the check expires.
Reuters reported there was a 54% increase in the number of background checks that were delayed past three days in … March through July, compared to last year. More than 5% of the 5.86 million background checks conducted during those months this year were delayed past three business days.
A NICS delay of more than three days means the FFL can make the sale without further delay or approval, but doesn’t have to.
We have no reports that selling guns without completing a NICS check results in ANY increase in crime, violence, accidents or other gun misuse.
Excellent info
“The burglar you are likely to encounter in your home is a seasoned criminal. About 20% of the burglars had also been arrested for the more serious crimes of homicide or robbery. More than half of them are breaking into your home because they are drug addicts. Half will also be accompanied by at least one other person, either assisting them inside the house or serving as a lookout. Many will be armed with an improvised weapon.”
This is why “Castle Doctrine” laws posit the legal assumption that someone feloniously entering an occupied residence is there to seriously hurt or kill you, and defensive deadly force is assumed justified.

Lessons
“It is important to remember when speaking with the police and 911 operators that the facts you give are limited to only those detailing the criminal acts of the other person.”
The Only Ones
An unidentified Otsego County, New York police deputy’s gun “accidentally” discharged in a Camden, NY, restaurant and injured two people last Saturday. State police said the off-duty deputy’s handgun went off while he was seated at a table. The bullet went through the bottom of his pants, ricocheted off the floor and struck a 38-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl, causing relatively minor injuries to both.
Ammo Rotation
My general solution is to just keep my gun loaded and not always be “cycling a loaded round through your gun in loading or unloading.” If you’re doing that on a daily (or whatever) basis, not only are you beating up your ammo, you’re adding a exponential increase in the chance for an “accident.” Load, make ready, holster, and LEAVE THE DARN THING ALONE.

Tikka trivia: Did you know?
In 1918, Finnish firearms company Tikkakoski started to manufacture firearms components. Sixty-three years later, Tikkakoski and another Finnish firearms company, Sako, collaborated on a prototype rifle. Sako then purchased Tikkakoski from Nokia in 1983. The companies merged to create Oy Sako-Tikka Ab, which later became Sako. A world-class manufacturer of hunting, law enforcement and military rifles, Sako positioned the Tikka brand as a “budget” class of rifles. The Beretta Holdings Group purchased Sako in 2000.

Writer Wayne Van Zwoll tells us about a new wildcat cartridge, the .375/9.3×62, which is a 9.3×62 case necked up from .366 to .375. It fits in a “.30-06” action and will give 2600 fps with 300-grain bullets. From a Remington Model 7600 pump rifle. Interesting. The only real reason for it is hunting heavy game in countries that require .375 as the minimum caliber. Five very fast shots from a .375 is impressive.
