Litigation

  • The US District Court for the Central District of California has ruled in the case CRPA vs. LASD that California must start issuing nonresident CCW licenses.
  • Judge Iain D. Johnston of the US District Court for Northern Illinois, Western Division, has declared the State of Illinois’ ban on carrying firearms on public transportation and in public transportation facilities unconstitutional as applied to the named plaintiffs in the case Schoenthal v. Raoul. Maybe those are some of the “sensitive places” that the late SCOTUS Justice Scalia made up out of thin air.
  • Next month, SCOTUS will consider regulations on unserialized home-built “ghost” guns when it hears arguments in Garland v. VanDerStok. The Biden administration asked the justices to review the case after a federal appellate court struck down a regulation on the sale of kits to make ghost guns, saying it stretched the definition of “firearm” in the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Enemies

A man holding a rifle stands next to a message questioning the government's effectiveness in the war on drugs and gun control measures.

Department of Idiocy

  • German steel.
  • The same sort of thing is happening in the UK. You know, where we had to donate personal guns during WWII because they didn’t have any guns.
  • The 28-year-old transgender individual who shot and killed six people at a Nashville Christian school on March 27, 2023, left behind a suicide note in which she expressed concern for her stuffed animals.

The Only Ones

  • Remember this photo?
A person in a black cap and ear protection is firing a scoped rifle over open water with spent cartridges ejected in mid-air.

DGUs

“He was planning to kill the girl and have sex with her body.”
In Hawaii, a neighbor used a front-end loader with a bucket full barrels of fuel to ram cars into the home where a family gathering was happening and then opened fire at people gathered in the carport, fatally shooting three women at the residence. Then another resident of the home fatally shot the attacker with a pistol. The defending resident was arrested for second degree murder. We assume the semiautomatic assault tractor was licensed and registered…

Industry News

  • Polymer80, at one time the largest manufacturer of 80% receiver kits for home gun builders, has shut down operations – at least temporarily – due to insurmountable legal defense and settlement costs that have plagued Polymer80 to the tune of millions. The company has been sued dozens of times simply for doing a legal business.

Products

A woman in a white dress stands at the counter inside a firearm store, holding a rifle and facing display cases filled with guns and accessories.
  • The Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday is this weekend.
  • EDC Wrapâ„¢ by CKK Industries is an adhesive camo fabric wrap for holsters, sheaths, magazines and many other items. EDC Wrap is made from Cordura Fabric and Polyester Oxford Fabric. Cordura is known for its durability and resistance to scratches, abrasions, and tears. Both fabric types are coated in polyurethane and a water repellent for additional protection from outdoor weather effects. I’m thinking it may be a good way to subdue the noise of military steel ammo cans, but it seems the largest available size is 1 foot square.
  • DeSantis says you can now order any of their OWB or IWB holsters to be custom-made in horsehide. You have to call them direct at 1-800-GUNHIDE to inquire about placing an order. They are NOT available through dealers, Amazon or distribution. Also not cheap.
  • KelTec’s Gen 3 Sub2000 (the one with a rotating front end to allow optics mounting) is now available in 5.7x28mm caliber. This is the first bottleneck cartridge to be chambered in the Sub2000 family.
  • Bushmaster has announced the return of the BA50 with updates to the 50 BMG bolt action promising increased reliability and durability. It has a right-side ejection port and a left-side bolt handle. Cost: A bunch.
  • Benelli’s new “M4 AI (Advanced Impact) Drone Guardian” is a 12-gauge shotgun with either an 18.5″ or 26″ barrel, combined with a special choke system and No.4 buckshot marketed for defense against drone attacks (like in Ukraine). Note that here in the states it is against federal law to shoot at a drone during peacetime, period. However if it is actually shooting at you, all bets are off.
  • The Mounting Solutions Plus has a nice selection of accessories, especially optics rings, bases & rails.
