Litigation, Agencies, Tactics, Enemies

Litigation

An interesting case against the PLCAA. I think they have a case.

Ninth Circuit sends Hawaii’s “may issue” CCW permitting scheme case back to district court, pursuant to Bruen. The United States Supreme Court specifically mentioned Hawaii as violating the Second Amendment in the NYSR&PA v. Bruen decision.

New York State says its current gun-carry restrictions are similar to presumably unconstitutional bigoted gun bans from the past, and that’s why they should be upheld in federal court.

A Lauderdale County, MS, jury has convicted Alfonzo McDonald, 34, of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced as an habitual offender to life without parole in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Remember how cops don’t have an affirmative duty or responsibility to protect you? Well, a Baltimore Police officer was found guilty of reckless endangerment after a judge found he failed to intervene and stop an assault during an investigation in 2020.

We heard an opinion this week that folks who post “Gun Free Zone” signs should be sued for false advertising. I agree.

……….

Murder suspect had guns taken under “red flag” law BEFORE he allegedly committed murder.

That’s because guns don’t kill people.

The Militarization of U.S. Executive Agencies

Interesting (pdf link). We note that the Constitution says the federal government can only do what is authorized in the Constitution. Try finding most of these 100+ agencies, let alone their arming, in the Constitution.

Fibbies

Note that all of the above FBI stuff is the result of a 1-minute search. I’m sure you can find much, much more.

Gun Poll

You may have seen the news that a new poll by the anti-gun University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows that a majority (71%) of Americans say gun laws should be stricter. Fortunately we live in a republic with a constitution specifically designed to protect the minority from the majority.

“Epidemic” of massacres?

Think again.

Enemies

  • FedEx

FedEx says that it would change its policy “to make it clear that unserialized frames and receivers … are prohibited consistent with the new rule going into effect on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.” No word on them confiscating your stuff yet.

Meanwhile FedEx left a shipment of M1 rifles (Garand or Carbine, we don’t know) at a Pennsylvania high school days before school started.

And an ex-FedEx driver from Massachusetts has been charged in federal court for allegedly stealing packages containing firearms and then selling the guns.

Chipmunk

Chipmunk pokes his head out again.

We note that while Chipman said he couldn’t define “assault weapons” for the Senate during his ATF confirmation hearing, now he can. So, perjury much?

I recently posted a comment on a Yahoo article about a shooting. My comment was posting Cooper’s four rules of gun safety. Yahoo flagged it for being “offensive” or some such.

We have a report that the Everytown gun ban group is spending 75% of its income on their $15 million salaries. Maybe the NRA can send Wayne over there to run things.

Baldwin keeps digging

Baldwin

Ex-actor Alec Baldwin says two people are responsible for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on his movie set, and he is neither one of them. He’s just the guy who pointed a loaded gun at the victim, cocked it, and apparently pulled the trigger.

The Only Ones

Deputy Jason Desue resigned from the Bradford County, FL, Sheriff’s Office after he was caught on video pointing his gun at a non-threatening pregnant woman during a traffic stop for speeding earlier this month. No word on criminal assault charges against Desue.

An unidentified off-duty and out-of-jurisdiction California reserve police officer and an unidentified bounty hunter who were sitting in a car playing with a gun negligently fatally shot a woman in the car with them.

Cleveland police face federal lawsuit after bogus open carry arrest.

Nationwide, TSA officers detected 5,972 guns at airport security checkpoints last year. None were carried by hijackers.

DGU

That’s why I shower with a gun. It seems to be clear from the article that the woman should never have been “initially arrested.”

Department of Idiocy

John Channels of Omaha was hired by the non-profit Catholic Charities but is now facing charges of terroristic threats and illegal use of a weapon after conducting an active shooter drill where neither police nor the non-profit’s employees were aware of what was going on.

A couple of observations:

  1. Mr. Channels is very lucky to not have been shot dead himself.
  2. Catholic Charities is very anti-gun.

You probably heard about the guy who “accidentally” shot himself and three others in an Atlanta area Walmart.

  1. Use a holster.
  2. Don’t attempt to catch a dropped or falling firearm.

Tactics

“Most power tools make excellent improvised weapons.”

Suppressor tech

The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute®, Inc., (SAAMI®), has developed suppressor thread and socket drawings and made them publicly available, without restriction.

Recall

Sig Sauer has determined that portions of Lot No. JDAR0815 of SIG SAUER 9MM, 115gr, Elite Ball, FMJ (SKU E9MMB1-50), may have powder charge variations that could result in a bullet remaining in the barrel (i.e., a dangerous bullet-in-bore obstruction).

Products

Knife launcher. I didn’t even know I needed this until now.

I’m thinking about buying one of those Taurus .410 revolvers, just so I can say “I own a Judge.”

How about a legal, unregulated full auto rifle that is convertible to a pistol, for under $300?

  1. Cleveland police face federal lawsuit after bogus open carry arrest.”

    I watched the video.
I have carried a slung AR-15, a holstered 1911, and a Ka-Bar knife in sheath, with body armor, in public, for a short period of time. When I feel the need to do so again, I will carry in the same way. By virtue of this video, I think I will talk to police should they arrive, but you must be careful with your words.
