Reminder that the new Mississippi “purse carry” law, which allows concealed carry in a bag without ANY permit, took effect July 1, so it is now legal. It also appears to me that this is a legal way to carry concealed into the list of places that the regular permit (or the enhanced permit) does not authorize. It still would not be legal at federal facilities or MAYBE to places which have a separate statutory prohibition (i.e., schools).

Miss. Code Ann. § 45-9-101. (24): “No license shall be required under this section for a loaded or unloaded pistol or revolver carried in a purse, handbag, satchel, other similar bag or briefcase or fully enclosed case.”
