An unruly patient was shot inside a Houston, TX hospital this week after he suddenly became violent and combative and attacked two off-duty police officers who were working as security guards in the facility at the time. After security was called in to help subdue the man, their efforts initially failed and the patient seriously injured both officers before one of them shot him. All three are seriously injured and expected to survive.

Hospitals are commonly gun free zones.
