Update on Kavanaugh nomination Senate vote count.
Kavanaugh has made clear in judicial writings that banning a certain “class of arms” is like banning a particular “category of speech.”
Trump nominee Mark Bennett was confirmed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, with 23 RINOs voting for him.
Civil Rights Story
- Civil rights and the right to self-defense go hand-in-hand [Washington Examiner]
(Notes: I don’t believe MS sheriffs had authority to issue CCW permits at all, and it’s unlikely that Mr. Howard had a full-auto Thompson submachine gun.)
Enemies
We have a report that US Bank Corp. is actively monitoring individual bank accounts and credit card accounts for gun-related activity, which then triggers their closing of the customers’ accounts. But they won’t admit to it.
A panel of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students criticized the Florida Legislature’s decision to place one armed school resource officer or trained guardian at every school during a March for Our Lives Road to Change tour stop in Daytona Beach on Sunday, July 15. Kids, go back and finish school. See if you can learn something useful.
NRA Board member Ted Nugent gone anti-gun? Looks like it.
Speer vs. Hornady
Nazis
The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), the ruling coalition party in the state of Lower Austria, is pursuing a proposal that would require Jews and Muslims to register with the government if they seek to purchase kosher meat, and would set a weekly limit on the amount of kosher meat that could be purchased.
Apparently we didn’t kill enough Nazis in WWII.
The Bucket List
To prepare for a possible active shooter situation, the Clio, MI, School District is equipping every classroom in the district with a “safety bucket,” a Walmart-donated 5-gal. plastic bucket filled with gauze, bandages and water. The district says they can also be used to poop in, should the situation warrant that.
You figure it out.
About Those “No Guns” Signs
- Houston Churches Remove ‘No Guns’ Signs, Citing Safety Concerns [Houston Public Media]
The Only Ones
Stanislaus County, CA, Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Wall has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a Modesto woman during a 2017 pursuit. Wall fired four shots into the driver’s door/window when the woman proceeded to try and drive away from the stop without endangering anyone.
An unidentified Harvey County, KS, sheriff’s deputy was arrested this week on suspicion of making a criminal threat after being accused of sending threatening text messages while he was on duty. The anonymous officer has been placed on paid administrative leave and is being held without bond because of an “ongoing threat of violence.”
Factoid
Law-abiding US citizens use guns for self-defense approximately 6500 times per day. — Centers for Disease Control
DGUs
Houston man shoots attackers holding his pregnant wife at gunpoint in their driveway. This had the makings of a nightmare.
“PC” Guns
“The gun control crowd’s silence after the Capital Gazette shooting should be instructive. The issue for these people is not saving lives, but winning carefully-planned political battles.”
Industry News
Navajo Remingtons? (The Navajo Nation is the largest Indian tribe in the US and, like most tribes is solidly Democrat.)
SHOT Show is expanding its footprint by almost half. I think they’re gonna need to add some days.
Products
Peters retro shotshells. Cool, but kinda weird that they don’t offer it with old-fashioned lead shot.
FN 509 Tactical pistol. (see also First Shots with the New FN 509 Tactical 9mm [The Truth About Guns])

Quote
“One of my seasoned friends was at a martial fad/pop-star martial arts seminar recently, at a tomahawk session, and frustrated with all the razzle-dazzle shown, he asked the pop-star,
‘Why not just hit the guy in the head?’
‘Where’s the fun in that?’ the pop star answered.
And there you have it.” — W. Hock Hochheim
