Litigation

A 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals panel decided 2-1 this week that the Second Amendment extends beyond the home, ruling that the State of Hawaii infringed on the rights of a plaintiff when it twice denied him a permit to carry a gun outside. The case is in Young v. State of Hawaii. Look for an en banc reversal by the full 9th Circuit, the most liberal and in the nation. If the case isn’t reheard en banc, or the panel decision is affirmed on en banc rehearing, then the case may well go up to the Supreme Court, since this decision reinforces a split among the circuits on the subject. This is why we need Judge Kavanaugh seated on the SCOTUS. Note that the big three networks ignored this news.

A Ninth Circuit panel also backed a lower court’s decision to suspend California’s ban on the possession of large magazines.

Poll says there are 14 million NRA members

In June of 2017 Pew Research published a poll that showed over fourteen million adults in the US self identified as National Rifle Association members. The trouble is, only five million or so are actual signed-up, dues-paying members.

Guns in Schools

Here’s Why.

Canada

Around 15 people were shot, 2 fatally, in a Toronto neighborhood this week, resulting in immediate calls for more gun control and total gun bans. But it was already a defacto gun free zone and the gun used was an “illegal” semiauto pistol. FYI, almost every gun control proposal being talked about here in the USA is already law in Canada.

Enemies

Fudd report. I have only one response: The Second Amendment ain’t about duck hunting.

So-called country-pop music “star” and pothead Eric Church, a marketing major whose professional career start in Nashville was funded by his father, is blaming the NRA (you and me) and the non-existent “gun show loophole” for the Las Vegas massacre. Oh, and he still claims to be a “Second Amendment guy.” Apparently Mr. Church is the only person who thinks Eric Church is cool. The interview was in the virulently anti-gun Rolling Stone magazine.
